Fun Friday

Great day!  I hope everyone is having a super-duper fun Friday.  I am excited about this new find from DIY.  Not only do they go great in my room, but they are pin cushions and right now I'm working on a pin cushion swap.  I have found a new crafty friend, Alli, from Arizona that I am swapping with and can't wait to make hers soon!  Yippie. :)

First, I want to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to my mom for her 84th birthday.  Happy birthday, mom.  I am glad to have you in my life and hope to have many more years ahead.  You have always been my inspiration in life and crafts.  I thank you for all you do.

Here is the card I made for her, inspired by a MNT from my local scrapbook store.

Happy 84th Birthday, Mom
Ok, back to some fun stuff.  So, DIY is going to be starting their new season.  Coming this Monday, October 3rd! They will begin the 4th season of The DIY Dish with a new pin cushion!  I can't wait.  Mark your calendars.

Ta-da!  How aweseome are these dress form pin cushions!  So, don't forget to tune in and learn how to make these fabulous pin cushions.  Check them out on FB:!/theDIYdish

Well, my crafty friends.  I hope you have a great weekend.  Be safe.  Thank you for dropping by and spread the word to spread the fun and joy.

Until next time.

Rainy Thursday :)

Wow, it's raining here, finally!  I love it.  My plants love it.  My dogs do not like the thunder, going to be a long loud night if Diego does not stop barking at the thunder.  Lol.  Boomer and Tara are fine with the thunder now, but Diego is not use to the lighting and rain.  See he is only 11 months old and hasn't experienced much rain, lighting, or thunder in his 11 months of life.  He sees rain and chases it, yes, he runs outside and tries to catch it with his mouth.  Sigh, crazy little dog.  :)

Today is my Friday!  Yay.  Taking tomorrow off work because it is my mom's 84th birthday!  How awesome is that!  What a blessing it is to have her with us all.  We will take her out and pamper her for the day and the rest of the weekend.

Ok, now for the best part of blogging, sharing projects.

I wanted to share this project I made.  I love to recycle.  My family does not like to, but I sort of encourage them to recycle.  I am all about 'save the Earth' and 'Go Green'.
What I don't put in the recycle bin, I recycle for projects.  Here is something I believe most of us have.
Do not throw these away, they make great containers for storing almost anything.  Pencils, buttons, ribbons, just about any emblishment you have, beads, you name it - you can store it.  Also the large and small Pringles packaging can be used to decorate for storing containers.

You can also decorate the container with almost any color and theme you want.  I used designer duck tape to coordinate with my scrap/craft room!
Just strip the plastic label off (that you can throw in the recycle bin) and you end up with a plain white plastic container.  Michael's sells a lot of colors and designs of duck tape.  I of course must stay within my color and room theme :)  so, I used the zebra duck tape.

Next step just cover the container with the duck tape (I went around it).  Then decorate with bling, flowers, stickers, vinyl, words, anything you like.  Keep in mind you can make it for kids schools, for teachers, for your office, for just about anything.

These are a couple of my final results.

How cool is that? I love these and decorate what I can and give as gifts and use many for storing my favorite embellishments. It makes it easy to take and pack with you when you are on the go also.

Thank you for dropping by today, I hope you enjoyed this simple but crafty project. Have a great evening and I would love to hear from you.

Until next time,

Whopping Wednesday!

Good Afternoon, Guys:

I am excited about my find today.  Yes, it's Fall; and yes, more pumpkins!  These are so easy and elegant for decor in your homes.  You don't even have to be a crafter to make!  Ann, yes, I will have several of these inside my house - drop by!

These are made from paper napkins, how cool is that?  Very! :)  Following are the supplies and instructions to complete this fantabulous project.  You know you do not have to follow the colors exactly, please make them to match your decor and taste.  This is inspired by PLAID, creative ideas made easy.

Fall Halloween Napkin Pumpkin

Here are the supplies you will need and instructions:
FolkArt -Acrylic Colors - wicker white, 2 oz (can be your preference)
FolkArt - Acrylic Colors - Licorice, 2 oz
Mod Podge Matte, 32 oz

(you can get these supplies at your local craft store)
Michaels and Hobby Lobby have a good selection of acrylic colors, I usually get the one on sale, like them all.

Other Supplies:
Large craft pumpkin (also your preference)
4 polka dot napkins (orange white)
4 floral/damask napkins (black and white)
1 black crayon
1 fall floral pick
hot glue and glue gun

  1. Cut napkins in wedges to fit the pumpkin vertically, with the widest part (approx. 2 ½“) in the middle and tapering to about 3/4” on each end.
  2. Carefully peel the back layer of each napkin piece (the white part) apart. (Most napkins are two-ply).
  3. Use Mod Podge to adhere each napkin wedge to pumpkin (refer to photo). Gently smooth out with your fingers as you work; napkins will tear easily. Allow to dry.
  4. Use the crayon to give the pumpkin a distressed/softer look by coloring a line along the edge of each napkin wedge (refer to photo).
  5. Give the pumpkin another coat of Mod Podge. Allow to dry by setting the pumpkin upside down in a wide mouthed bottle.
  6. Paint the leaf in the floral pick.
Well, I hope you get crafty and try these out.  If you make a few, send me pictures.  I will post them on my blog.  Thanks for dropping by and I hope you come back.
Have a great and blessed day, I would love to hear from you.

Tough Tuesday!

Wow, good evening, Guys:

First I want to give a shout-out to Monique, today is her 25th birthday!  Happy birthday!  Monique is my step-daughter.  She also works at the court house, County Clerks Office, and they are working her hard.  So, hope she had a fabulous day and gets pampered tonight.

Now, for some fun stuff!  I know it's late, but I am just getting around to posting on my blog today.  I had a busy day at work.  We started a trial and I had a lot of email!  Lots of calls!  Lots of documents to go over!  But overall, happy to be there and come home and get started on my chores at home.  I didn't have to water the plants today or feed the dogs, my husband, AG, did it for me. YAY!  He is super.

Ok, so, I hope everyone has had a great week so far and all is running smoothly.  I hope you all are liking my finds and are spreading the word.  I am trying to get a good following.  I would love to hear any suggestions you all may have.  I would like some feedback too, pleaseeeeeeeeeeee.

Well, today I found this other Halloween wreath that is easy to make (comes with tutorial also).  I found it through Tatertots & Jello.  If you haven't dropped by their FB go check them out!/TatertotsandJello great finds.

The website I am sharing with you today is Positivelyy Splendid!  Great name isn't it.  It really is positively splendid - lol.  Here is a photo of the wreath, but go to their site and you will see all the photos and instructions.
their link is: check it out it's a great idea.  You know you can always alter, no need to make it identical, these are ideas to get you started when you get stuck like me.  I usually change things around or use what I have or alter the whole topic.  I just love finding easy projects to work on.

I hope you enjoy this.  Thank you for dropping by and hope to hear from you all.
Have a great evening.  Blessings to you all.

Mad Monday :~

Hey, fellow crafters!

Wow, Monday it was/is!  I had jury duty Thursday (no work) and played hooky on Friday.  So, it was a bit tough getting back into the swing of 'work'.  I also had lots of correspondences waiting for me from lawyers - ugh.  Along with trying to check all my 'special emails' (my scrappers blogs and emails - lol).  I also had to check 'work' emails from again, lawyers - ugh - lol.  Busy day, busy.  I am just getting around to blogging today.  It's late.  I watered all my plants out in my jungle, I fed the dogs, I vacuumed two rooms because my doggie, Diego shredded a towel all over my living room and computer room.  Wonder who let him out!  Yes, hubby.  But who can resist Diego!

I signed up for a pin cushion swap on Drew's blog:
And I was partnered up with Allison H.  I am excited because it appears we like a lot of the same things.  Excited about the swap - it will be my first!  Woo-hoo!

I found some more pumpkins and Fall ideas to share with you, even some made out of fabric, how cool is that. Check this site out:

The ideas are endless!  I love them all!  September is almost over, wow!  We are officially in "Fall Season"  I know that's hard for us to grasp here in TEXAS!  But it is still Fall and I love Fall and everything about it.  Something about the air and the colors and the time of season it is.  Puts me in a 'happy mood'.

Well, my dear crafters, I appreciate you dropping by.  Until tomorrow.  I am going to try to post pictures of my scrap room - I went vinyl happy and want to share!

Have blessed and great evening.
Going to go watch a fabulou class w/Helmar USA and Tracy!

Woop-woop (hands in the air).

Tasteful Thursday!

Ok, guys.  Today I had jury duty - yay!  So, I thought.  I work in a Civil District Court in Harris County and I have been wanting to see how it feels to be on the other end of the stick.  I have lived in Pearland for about, I think 17-18 years, and have been called to serve my civic duty TWICE...uhmmm, that's nothing.  "Hey, Pearland, don't complain about people not showing up, you don't call them".

Ok, well, I had waited so long and finally received my jury letter in the mail...sigh...yay, but only to Municipal Court - wow.  Anyway - I went, I served, and didn't get picked.  Must say the Court Rooms in Municipal Court are bigger than Harris County's District Courts - hmmmmm, something wrong w/that picture.  Yeah, my tax dollars - they are taking too much in Pearland!  Ok, well.  I decided to go home after I was released and lounge.  Decided it was blogging time.

Today I am going to share a cute idea I came across from "Kitchen Fun With My Three Sons".  Yes, it's Halloween theme!  But awesome for Halloween party snacks.  You ready!  Spiders made from a plum and grapes.  How fun is that!  Easy too.

It is a cool Halloween fun and Spooky Spider Snack! You make this using 1 plum, 12 pretzel sticks, edible eyes, and a big hand full of dark grapes.

You poke 3 holes on each side of the plum with a knife. Take 6 pretzel sticks and push them into the holes. Poke a hole on the ends of the grapes and slide them onto the pretzel sticks leaving just a bit of the pretzel showing. Fill up the other pretzel sticks with grapes and poke a hole on the end grape with the kitchen knife. Press that onto the end of the pretzel that is showing. Stick on the edible eyes with cream cheese (you could use peanut butter) and that's it!

You could also do this snack by pressing raisins on the pretzel sticks instead of using grapes. A quick  decorative snack and everyone will love it and it makes a fabulous Halloween decoration for a party.  How awesome is that!!

Thanks for dropping by!  Enjoy your Tasteful Thursday!

Wacky Wednesday!

Greetings Crafters,

I found a fabulous idea.  What to do with empty wine bottles?  Yes, recycle! came up with a fantastic way to decorate wine bottles for Halloween.  Yes, I know - more Halloween.  But there are so many ideas.  This way you can pick your favorite and get crafty.  I know we can all find empty wine bottles around :)

I do want to thank you all for visiting.  As I said, I am new (one week) to blogging and I am slowly getting the hang of this and it is rather fun.  I love sharing crafty finds with all my friends and crafters.

Here is the link to the altered wine bottles:

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.  I will be making a few to put around the house.  If you don't know, Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year.

Thanks for dropping by and have a wacky, but safe Wednesday.  Thank you, Joy for a creepy super idea.

Tasty Tuesday

Greetings friends,  Thanks for dropping by to visit.  I think I am liking this blogging thing.  I love sharing ideas with you guys.  Ann thanks for letting the others know about my blog.  Blogging gives me the chance to tell you about ideas I see, come up with, and want to share.  I hope you get as excited about making them as I do.  I want to share this passion with others that share it with me.  That would be you!

Today I want to share a cool idea from DIY*DISH, they were featured in 'Where Women Cook' Magazine.  It is a place for friends to find new things and ideas.  Fabulous fabric link too for those of you that quilt and sew.

Here is the link:

What it entails is that we gather groups of friends, make a DIY project, and of course, EAT! So each issue of the magazine will include photographs of the event, the project, and definitely the breakfast recipes!  The Fall 2011 issue is on news stands now.  They also outline a 9-step guide for creating your own “Girlfriend’s Breakfast Club”. It would be great to get together with old and new friends, creating, laughing, eating, and enjoying one another’s company.

Cool thing is all the projects will be free to download on their site.
The first project is this super cool apron — appropriately called, “My Girlfriend’s Breakfast Club Apron.”

Download your free apron pattern here.
Fabric kits for the aprons are found here.

I hope you enjoy this project, let's make one and wear them at our next retreat!

Thanks for dropping by.  Until tomorrow.

Manic Monday!

Hi, guys.  I'm back.  The retreat went fabuloussssssss!  So much fun.  It was wonderful to meet new scrappers.  We plan to scrap once a month with the 'new crew'.  We even had time for crafting projects for Halloween.  I gave you guys a link on Friday, we made some at the retreat (L & L Ranch, Willis, Texas).  Here is a pic!  The pumpkins are fake from Michaels and we cut the pictures from vinyl (used happy haunting cart).  The skulls also from Michaels and I mod-podged vintage paper and decorated with vinyl also and added bling and ribbon and flowers.

We had a blast, thanks Helmar, USA for posting Letitia Grace Lauer's project.  I was inspired!  I didn't have access to computer for blogging or facebooking so I am sharing today.

Now I am trying to get back in the 'work mode'.  The hustle and bustle of the work week.

I wanted to share a project today that I will be working on also for Halloween (yes, I love Halloween!).  This is an easy project my inspiration here is from Sarah - Pink by Design:

I hope you enjoy.  Thanks for stopping by.

Fabulous Hump Day!

Today is my second day of blogging - woot-woot!  I am liking this, like a live journal I can share with everyone.  I am learning a little more each day and how to do it.

I thought since we are in September (close to my favorite holiday of the year - Halloween).  I would post some of my favorite projects I learned to make.  These would make great gift boxes for friends, co-workers, family, anyone.  I was inspired by Heidi Swapp, took a class of hers and these were her creations.  House of Three use to sell these, not sure if they still do, but I have several to make as gifts.  For that special someone, if you act right ;)

I am trying to get in the spirit of FALL, my favorite time of the year, but as our temps get in the 100's - whew - it makes it hard to think orange and yellow for Fall.  So, what better way to bring in the spirit than to make Fall/Halloween projects to get us in the mood!

I hope you enjoy these.  If you have a blog or something you want me to post or even help on what I should add to my blog, please, let me know.

Thanks guys for passing by.  Let me know what you all think.

Today is a beautiful day. I am new to Blogging and this will be my first. I am not sure where, what, or how to do this. LOL . There will be more to come, projects, and things I do. Thanks for dropping by.
