Finally Friday

Hey, Crafters!

Welcome back.  I hope you all had a constructive week and ready for the weekend.  I know I am most definitely ready!

I found the coolest handbag, are you ready for this!  It is an album, yes, an album made out the shape of a handbag.  Found it featured in Creating Keepsakes Magazine!  Love it.  So, you know I have to share fab-finds!  Here it is, enjoy.

Handbag Album

What you need

• 1x FabScraps handbag album
• Craft paint in pink (a metallic pink craft paint has been used for the edges)
• 4x FabScraps High Tea collection C41 001A (for outside and inside cover)
• 8x FabScraps High Tea collection C41 006A (for covering of inserts and matting)
• 8x FabScraps collection C41 005A (covering of inserts and matting)
• 1x Paper Rose collection code MCDC 04
• 1x MC41 004 tag booklet
• 2x Chipboard butterflies or filigree butterflies in pewter or bronze
• 1x Chipboard swirls (2 per pack) DC25 07
• 1x Metal wedding code ME 009
• 1x crystal hatpin
• Ribbon for bow on the tags
• Craft glue, sanding tool, craft knife, steel ruler, wooden kebab stick, cutting mat, scissors, tom bow glue for roses, brown chalk, glitter glue, dimension glaze

Instructions

1. Using the chipboard bag as your guide, use photocopy paper to create templates for each section. The front flap is done first, then the back of the bag, then the front of the bag, then a strip for the underside of the bag and finally the top in two sections as per the diagram. The diagram is not to scale; it's just a guideline to the sections that need to be cut.
2. Take the handbag album and paint all folds and edges with pink craft paint. Set aside to dry.
3. While waiting for the album to dry, use the templates to cut sections out of the C41 001A paper. Once the album has dried, all edges of the outside covers need to been chalked using a brown chalk. Use craft glue paste on the outside and inside of the handbag cover.
4. Take the inserts from the inside of the album and cut paper to fit, starting with C41 006A for the first page, and C41 005A for the next 2 with until the album inserts are completed. Ink all edges before gluing them to the inserts.
5. Glue all pages onto the chipboard inserts.
6. Mat all photos on the opposite paper from the insert page. For example, if the insert paper is mauve, use the music note paper for the photo mat.
7. Make a rose following instructions on the back of the MCDC 004 Rose collection book. The roses in the example were sanded before being assembled and decorated with stickles and a drop of dimension glaze to make water droplets.
8. The chipboard swirls were covered with brown chalk and then a thin layer of dimension glaze was applied and left to dry.
9. Once all of the products have dried, decorate the bag using the roses, butterflies and swirls tags from the MC41 001 booklet. Small paper roses may also be used to fill in small spaces.
10. Apply the metal word Wedding (ME 009) to the outside of the front of the book as per the picture above.
11. Enjoy your beautiful little coffee table album! Let your imagination run wild when decorating the cover.

Toxic Thursday

Welcome Back!

Thank you guys for coming back, I truly appreciate you checking my blog out.  Remember to leave some crafty love if you like what you see.  Or let me know what you want to see.

Today I am going to share some projects I have been working on.  The bottle did not come out as cool as I wanted it to, but it will work especially if I put it with several others on a tray.  I got it today and wanted to try out the technique.  The treat boxes are for my daugther to take to work with her, though her list is long so I have many more to make.  I just wanted to share with you what I have thus far.

I cut the treat suitcase box from a 6x6 and folded 1" all around - that made the box, then decorated it with embellishments to make it look like a suit case (inspired by Jess Kinderstampo).  The French Fry box and Asian to go Box (LOL), not sure what else to call it, I cut with my Art Philosophy Cartridge and also decorated with embellishment and fuzzy cut some ghouls and goblins from Halloween paper and blinged it up.  The bottle's label is cut from Happy Hauntings Cartridge, I used Martha Stewart's border punch with spider webs, and mod podged it then sprayed it with Glitter Mist.

That was all I was able to create today, thanks to all that inspire and I hope I have inspired you as well.

I hope you all are not getting tired of Halloween.  There is yet more to come.  I l-l-l-l-love Halloween and there are only 17 more days until Oct. 31.  Then it will be time to craft for Thanksgiving!  Yes, still in the Fall so that makes me happy.  I am most certain I will be working on Christmas as well.

Wow Wednesday

Good evening everyone,

Thank you for dropping by today.  I love my blog lately, it's Fall, and I love everything about it.  I have an opportunity to share things with my friends and family.  I hope you all are enjoying the wonderful projects as much as I do.  Best part is I can always come back to refresh my memory and create more projects later.

I found some other leaves that will be easy to create a garland with and show the Fall colors come through.

These make you feel as though they should be blowing in the wind. Monica N, I found these for you.  You probaby already have everything you need to make this:  An iron, some leaves, paintbrush, mod podge, some scissors, and some string to hang the leaves on.

Ironed the leaves to flatten them out, then cover them in mod podge (this step is optional but it gives them a nice gloss and holds them together better when cutting them) after the mod podge is dry, cut them into hearts, hang them on a string, then hang them up in the window for the sun to shine through them because it looks amazing!

Terrific Tuesday!

Welcome back!

I am really excited today to share with you the 'terrific' projects I found today.  Capadia Designs has posted the most brilliant idea on their blog.  Recycle lids!  How cool is this.  Wait until you see the fabulous projects.  This can be taken to so many levels if you let your imagination go (out of the box).  There are different color lids, so they can be used for different Holidays.

Are you ready for this!  Yeap, the little orange lid from the orange juice bottle of Tropicana!

Upcycling combines crafting and recycling to create new, interesting and useful things from ordinary objects that might otherwise be thrown away. 

The only identifying mark on the lid is on the top.  This will not be seen since the top becomes the bottom for this project.

The inside circle of the lid is just the right size to hold a battery operated tealight!  There is a slight gap between the inner screw top and the outer lid - perfect to hold a piece of vellum upright.

A piece of vellum cut at six inches and overlapped by about 1/4 inch to form a tube would fit neatly in the gap.  For the first light, cut the vellum at 6 inches by 4 inches.

Punch a spiderweb strip from Martha Stewart Deep Edger Spiderweb punch (if you have or some sort of border).  Used some adhesive along the center line to adhere the strip to the vellum.

You can add bling to the lid. You could easily design a shade similar to the one done by Capadia Designs several years ago with various Halloween images (you can read more about that lantern HERE).

For the second light, use a piece of vellum six by three inches and punched the top (with a different boarder of your choice) i.e., spiders, pumpkins, whatever you have.

For the third light, cut the vellum at two by six inches and add some leaf shaped gems and sequins.

Mad Monday

Happy Columbus Day everyone!

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  I had a busy weekend.  Sunday was a lazy day, didn't even scrap.  I had a migraine and it prevented me from scrapping so just lounged around.  We had good rain that was well needed in Pearland, so it was all good anyway.

Got a lot of projects done though on Friday and Saturday, I hope you all have taken the time to check them out.  If so, show a little love, leave a comment.  I appreciate the few that do, but would like to hear from the rest as well.

If you don't have a google account, it's easy to create one -you just use your email address and password and viola.  You can leave comments and follow!  I would like to hear your ideas and whether you are enjoying my blog or not.

Of course, having a blog is like a journal, a diary.  I can always come back to it and see a little bit of what I have done during the weeks.  I will start posting more things not just projects that way I can share a bit of everything and I have it for keeps.  I am enjoying this blogging, helps me remember things I may forget later.

Today I did find a cool styrofoam witch hat - yes, more Halloween, I love it.  I will just post the picture, let your imagination give your direction.  But I hope the picture inspires you.

Fun Friday continues into Saturday Night

Ok, well, this is more fun the more projects we are able to complete.  I am proud to post the BOO Blocks!  These came out so cool.

I appreciate you guys sticking with me/us.  We have other projects that we will post.  I hope you leave some love and tell us what you think.

This are a gift I am giving Ashley to give to her friend, Bean in Dallas in appreciation for letting Ashley hang out on Tuesday nights instead of driving back the same day in the wee-hours of the morning.  I hope she really likes it!

Fun Friday...continues

Ok, Crafters...

And the scrap-a-thon continues.  My scrapper buddy finally finished some of her projects.  We had to make a quick trip to Michaels, Target, and Walgreens.  But we started back up at noon.  Here are Viv's four Jess Kinderstampo Inspired, Halloween travel suitcases!  How cute are these!  Four lucky teachers will be the recipients of these Spook-tac-u-lar suit cases.
